Jurat-- A jurat is simply a certificate attached to an affidavit evidencing the fact that the affidavit was properly made before a duly authorized officer. Certifies that the signer appeared before the notary and signer signed the document in the presence of the notary, that the notary administered an oath or affirmation to the signer (as to the truthfulness of the statements in the document.)
