| The two main types of notarizations are: |
| Acknowledgement-- An acknowledgement is the act of a person who has executed an instrument declaring before a competent court or officer that the execution is his or her act or deed. Certifies that the signer appeared before the notary, the signer acknowledged the signing of the document and to the identity of the signer. |
|
Jurat-- A jurat is simply a certificate attached to an affidavit evidencing the fact that the affidavit was properly made before a duly authorized officer. Certifies that the signer appeared before the notary and signer signed the document in the presence of the notary, that the notary administered an oath or affirmation to the signer (as to the truthfulness of the statements in the document.) As of 2005, also certifies the identity of the signer. |
|
Additionally, there are other common documents requiring notarization: |
| Loan documents with multiple notarizations.-- If you have loan documents that need to be notarized, each document will be explained and the documents needing notarization will be completed. I am a Certified Signing Agent. | |
| Single document notarization such as a grand deed, DMV test, or affidavit. | |
